A Bipartisan Solution To What Ails Iraq?
November 14th, 2006 · No Comments
To counter the pessimism of my previous post, I present you with this lengthy defense of the ‘consensus’ solutions being leaked from the Iraq Study Group and speculated upon by Gregory Djerejian of the Belgravia Dispatch. If one were a cynic (who, me?), one might call the following a bit utopian:
With the nomination of Robert Gates [...]

Back from my deployment…
November 10th, 2006 · No Comments
Hi Everyone,
On Wednesday I returned from my deployment by the RGA to Michigan. While the outcome was less than desired the experience was one that I will not soon forget. It was so nice to meet with Michigan voters, and talk to them either on the phone, when I went to their houses, or when they stopped by our Muskegon Victory Center. For the most part the people I spoke with were very cordial and inviting. My team members were very cool to work with, and we had a lot of fun. I was able to meet Saul Anuzis (Chairman of the MI GOP), Congressman Pete Hoekstra (MI-2), and other local GOP officials and candidates.
Much to my surprise I made the front cover of The Muskegon Chronicle on Election Day. It was above the fold and everything. I knew they were taking pictures, but I couldn’t have dreamed that I’d hit the front cover.
While I am very saddened by the results of Tuesday, I see much promise for the future. We’re down, but we’re definitely not out, and Governor Romney is the future and that future is very bright.
All the best to each and every one of you who peruse this site!

An election poem…
November 7th, 2006 · No Comments
Twas the Night Before the Election
Twas the night before the election
And all through the House
Nancy Pelosi was stirring
To become Speaker of the House.
Bright battled Snowe, hoping to unseat her
With hopes that Harry Reid would be Majority Leader.
The Democrats were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of opinion polls danced in their heads;
Ted Kennedy made some mischief then a nightcap,
While the DNC plotted to make blue the map.
When out of the voting booth, there arose such a clatter
Bill Clinton turned on the TV to see what was the matter.
The Republicans turned out to vote in mass;
Tore up the Democrats and kicked their a**.
Howard Dean looked around, not knowing what to do
Turns out Republicans were loyal and true.
Then, what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a lost election to the GOP drawing near.
The sixth of November, they thought it was sealed,
But they didn’t account for Michael S. Steele.
More rapid than eagles, the Republicans came,
The voters whistled and shouted and called them by name.
Now Corker, now Talent, now Santorum, now DeWine;
On Allen, on Tarrent, on Harris, you’re doing just fine!
To the top of the Senate, to the top of the Hill
The Democrats thought the House they would fill.
The Democrats tried to make Congress “new”
But Republicans kept the House and Senate too!
And then in a twinkling, their dream year was gone
The Republicans triumphed, the election was done.
In the end, popularity ratings turned around
A rejuvinated strength, the Republicans found.
Then Ken Mehlman stated after the fight,
“God Bless America, and to all a good-night!”

If It’s Saturday…
November 4th, 2006 · No Comments
…then it’s college football. Big day today in the Big 12, as Oklahoma and the surprising 8-1 Aggies go toe-to-toe, and Texas faces a scrappy Oklahoma State. My Red Raiders, who handed A&M their only loss of the year, but have been disappointing overall, are well in command at Lubbock, with a 42-14 [...]

Open Topic Friday
October 27th, 2006 · No Comments
You know how on Fridays Rush Limbaugh has “Open Line Friday” where his callers can talk about whatever topic they wish to discuss? Well, I’m going to use a similar theme with this blog today, and have “Open Topic Friday”. You can discuss whatever topic in the comment section Romney related that you want, if you have questions about a certain Romney stance or issue feel free to ask those as well. I look forward to hearing what you all have to say.

Governor Again?
September 16th, 2006 · No Comments
http://news.bostonherald.com/columnists/view.bg?articleid=157577&srvc=news From the “Eh, why not?” pile comes this plea from Howie Carr for Gov. Romney to weasel…err…finagle his way back into the Massachussettes governor’s race. It’s not meant to be serious (I hope), but it makes the interesting point that Gov. Romney is in a better position today than when he announced he wouldn’t seek re-election.
Anyway, it’s all academic now.

Chafee’s Fate In The Balance
September 12th, 2006 · No Comments
From RealClearPolitics:
Today’s the big day for Lincoln Chafee in Rhode Island. Expect it to be very close. Laffey has run an effective outsider campaign, fueled by $700,000 from the Club For Growth. Chafee, on the other hand, has gotten more than $1 million in support from the NRSC as well as establishment support for his [...]

Some of the would-be authors for the blog have tried to file posts, but they have unintentionally caused problems with the news feed. Vacation Post Four
August 26th, 2006 · No Comments
Hopefully we’ve all managed to stay out of jail this weekend, but if not:
Test me, test me
Why don’t you arrest me?
Throw me in the jail house
Until the sun goes down
Till it go down
I had to move
Really had to move
That’s why if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha don’t you come around here anymore
Just don’t [...]

‘08 Dreamin’

It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key.
Sir Winston Churchill, I am quite sure, would not mind if I borrowed his quote. And, though he was describing the Evil Empire, I find it more aptly describes the Republican Party embracing Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
Your humble pundit is [...]

Busy Day Tomorrow
August 3rd, 2006 · No Comments
I’m heading to the Williamson County Republican Reagan Day dinner tomorrow with the keynote speaker being our own Governor Romney. I have a table of ten people set up, and I’m all set to go. I probably won’t post anything tomorrow because I have several things I have to do in the morning, then I have to pick up Heather Johnson from Women for Romney who is flying in from North Carolina for the event. We’ll then head to the event together. Anyway, I need to head to bed so I get enough rest before the big day tomorrow!
Depending, I might blog from the event. We’ll see how it goes. ![]()

The Official State of Massachusetts Sport is…
August 2nd, 2006 · No Comments
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2537582 Well, this certainly ranks as amongst the most important news items of the day. Basketball will soon be the official state sport in the land of the Red Sox. It’s fitting given that the sport was invented in Springfield and the Celtics represent the most dominant professional dynasty in any sport.
Funny thing…this will probably lose him more votes than the Tar Baby nonsense.

Absolutely wonderful news…
August 2nd, 2006 · No Comments
If you have been following the past few months of my life on this blog (in little tidbits here and there), you will know that three of my four children were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.
Well, since the older two were asymptomatic our doctor was suspicious of the diagnosis. Well, they had the complete genetic workup done and they could not find the gene that caused the CF. Therefore, our doctor dug in and did research and he found the answer. Each of our three older children has been taking the same anti-seizure drug for their epilepsy. That drug can cause a positive sweat test (the Gold Standard for determining CF). Erin was already in the process of coming off that specific drug before any mention of the positive drug/sweat test conflict, and was in the process of switching to a different one. The reason for the initial switch is because the drug also causes significant memory problems that inhibit the learning process. She’s gone in for subsequent sweat tests since she came off the drug, and while her results have not come back normal yet; her points have gone down dramatically (which just doesn’t happen if you have CF, it can deviated 10 points one way or another but not 50 and 60 like hers has). Well, she had another sweat test yesterday and her point value was 42, anything under 40 is normal. Because of those blasted 2 points, she will be retested again in two months just to be 100% certain it is normal. But, the doctor is safe to say at this point that she does not have CF, and with the older two kids asymptomatic he believes the same goes for them (especially with the genetic test coming back negative as well).
Our doctor will still follow Erin because she has responded so well to the CF treatment, and she obviously has pulmonary and gastrointestinal issues. She’s also being sent to a couple of other specialists over the coming months to pinpoint just exactly what we are dealing with, but to hear the news that our children don’t have CF is just the most wonderful news that we’ve heard all year long with all that we’ve been through. Thanks for indulging me here, and letting me share the news.
