With the polling across the country looking grim for the congressional GOP, I have to wonder if it isn’t time to consider nationalizing the races around Pelosi. To some extent, the races are already nationalized. The GOP might as well let the voters know who they’ll be putting in charge of the House.
I realize that Pelosi’s name ID is low, but see this more as a plus - a blank slate - then a negative.
There is a recent analog to this effort. In the German elections last year the SPD was so far behind that they (a) positioned Merkel (CDU) as the frontrunner and (b) put the onus on her to tell the voters what she would do with her power once elected. The CDU took the bait (oops) and almost lost. To my thinking, nationalizing around Pelosi would put the spotlight on the dysfunctional Democratic caucus and their plans should they gain the majority. We should make the election about what they will do when they win.
