Rendell Cruising

PA Governor, Quinnipiac, Rendell (D-Incumbent) 57%, Swann (R) 38%. Poll conducted August 8-13 among 1,011 likely voters.

While the Pennsylvania Senate race continues to tighten, the opposite is true of this race. Rendell got his ads on television early, and they were some of the more effective political ads I have personally seen. Swann, a newcomer to political campaigns, has not had an answer, and the numbers look bleak. Rendell’s job approval rating is at a healthy +23%, and is attracting 26% of Republicans.

Quinnipiac: Santorum Within 6 or 7

The writeup is not yet up at Quinnipiac’s website (Update: the full results are now up here), but the Associated Press reports:

In a three-way matchup, Casey leads Santorum 45 percent to 39 percent, with Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli picking up 5 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll of registered voters. Eleven percent were undecided or did not plan to vote.

In a two-way race, the results are not much different; Casey leads there 47%-40%. (More below the fold, and be sure to see Bill Cullo’s take in the comments.)

All By Myself On Us Losing the Senate???

Pennsylvania: A Lesson For The US

About the same time we moved out here, the state legislature voted themselves a pay raise, and contrary to the state constitution, voted to take it the same year. Voters were already furious because Fast Eddie Rendell had diverted 90% of the gasoline tax away from road construction throughout the state to prop up the failing Philly public transportation system.
