Democrats More Eager to Vote, But Unhappy with Party
June 29th, 2006 · No Comments
With less than five months to go before Election Day, Democrats hold two distinct advantages in the midterm campaign that they have not enjoyed for some time. First, Americans continue to say they favor the Democratic candidate in their district, by a 51% to 39% margin. Second, the level of enthusiasm about voting among Democrats [...]

Hillary’s Female Base Isn’t a Given
June 27th, 2006 · No Comments
There was a time Sen. Hillary Clinton could take the support of women for granted. This critically important demographic was all sewn up should New York’s junior senator decide to run for president. But, thanks to her support for the Iraq war (among other issues), Clinton now sees savvy American women looking elsewhere in 2008.
Alternet reports:
A number of women’s [...]

June 15th, 2006 · No Comments
Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), a potential 2008 presidential candidate, received a raucous and enthusiastic greeting Wednesday from the group "Take Back America."
The same crowd had booed Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) the presumed 2008 front-runner, a day earlier for opposing a set date for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq.

Hillary Gets Booed, Again!
June 14th, 2006 · No Comments
Poor Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY). She's so afraid of appearing soft on national security and social issues that she's managed to morph into George Bush with breasts and a vagina. From her pro-Iraq war position, to her antigay marriage stance, and her pathetic position in favor of a flag burning amendment. The freshman senator from New York has [...]

Despite the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, President Bush remains hugely unpopular with lethal job approval numbers. The much anticipated "bounce" Karl Rove, et al, had hoped for simply hasn't materialized.
From Rasmussen Reports polling:
Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Americans approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President. Sixty [...]

Why Democrats Lose
June 8th, 2006 · No Comments
Robert Parry writes an interesting piece at Consortiumnews on why Democrats lose elections. Agree or disagree, but he makes several good points and frames his argument in this week's Busby-Bilbray race in San Diego's 50th District.
1. [a] huge conservative media advantage Republicans have created from years of investing in media outlets
2. [an] aggressive commitment to every aspect of the [...]
