Now, I really don’t see the advantage of Martinez over Steele, since I hear from Florida folks that Martinez is already MIA (so why would you give him more to do?), and Steele is a rock star and has a bright future. But when Don says, “all upset,” he’s being his usual, charming, understated self

Either Way The House Goes
November 7th, 2006 · No Comments
the same thing needs to happen: We need Hastert out of any leadership position. Hastert showed himself to be an insufferable, tone-deaf jackass when he howled with Pelosi about the FBI searching Jefferson’s office. He’s been a jackass ever since.
If we lose the House, the situation will take care of itself, and Hastert will be [...]

One More Time

From Yahoo:
“I think the North Korean population has been losing average height and weight over the years and maybe this will be a little diet for Kim Jong Il,” John Bolton, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Friday as the resolution was under debate.
And why, exactly, isn’t John Bolton running for President in 08?

The Latest Battleground Poll
October 10th, 2006 · No Comments
The latest Battleground Poll is out, and it doesn’t look good for the Democrats. But let’s start by reviewing the last Battleground Poll:
When thinking about politics and government, do you consider yourself to be

Letter Time!
September 27th, 2006 · No Comments
I sent this letter today to Dole, Frist, Specter, Santorum, and Ken Mehlman.
Dear Senators Dole, Frist, Santorum and Specter, and Chairman Mehlman:
I thought instead of throwing away your frequent requests for donations and deleting your email requests, I would let you know why I will not contribute to the NRSC, at least until you change [...]

Regis In 08!
August 28th, 2006 · No Comments
If you needed another reason to love Bolton and his mustache, Regis, this is the best one imaginable:
More proof of the effectiveness of John Bolton, our ambassador to that perpetually dysfuntional organization known as the UN: Iran hates him.
Somebody tell me again why Bolton is not going to run for President …

Pennsylvania: A Lesson For The US
May 17th, 2006 · No Comments
About the same time we moved out here, the state legislature voted themselves a pay raise, and contrary to the state constitution, voted to take it the same year. Voters were already furious because Fast Eddie Rendell had diverted 90% of the gasoline tax away from road construction throughout the state to prop up the failing Philly public transportation system. The pay raise pushed them over the edge

Finally: Common Sense
May 15th, 2006 · No Comments
Misha has a good article up about voting strategy, which unlike many I have read, actually makes sense:
If you’re lucky enough to live in a State or a District whose representative is a true conservative, and that goes for all of us who might be that lucky, vote for him or her. DO get out [...]

Hewitt’s Survey: Issues
April 18th, 2006 · No Comments
I looked at religious groups here, and demographic groups here. As it turns out, some of the most interesting results show when we look at issue groups.
Let’s begin with the umbrella issue groups, then move to the more specific, starting with the most general:
Among self-identified conservatives, George has leads by 15 points, at 39%, over [...]

Hewitt’s Poll: Demographics
April 18th, 2006 · No Comments
I already did the religious groups. Here are the demographic groups — remember that these are self-labeled (though here, I didn’t have to collapse any groups).
George leads with 32%, followed by Rudy (31%) and Romney (20%). This isn’t too surprising.
Also not surprising. Rudy leads with 36%, followed by George at 32% and Mitt at 22%.

More Data
April 18th, 2006 · No Comments
Welcome, Hugh Hewitt readers! There will be more analysis of the data; check back. And feel free to look around (you might want to check out the articles in the education category, if you want to know what it’s like to be a conservative on campus).
Demographic groups are here; issues groups are here.

Frist? Don’t Think So
March 12th, 2006 · No Comments
Alpha Patriot is blogging the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, and he reports that Frist won the straw poll. Wait, not so fast:
Update: The Hotline has released some interesting statistics. Among them, 82% of Frist’s votes came from Tennessee delegates with only 97 votes of his 526 votes coming from other states. And while he [...]

Interpreting Polls
February 12th, 2006 · No Comments
Yup, it’s a repost, just because I think we need to hear it again.
One game liberals play is to move the goalposts by changing what words mean. They do this all the time, but those I’m concerned with here are terms that identify where you fall on the political spectrum. With the Democrats shifting further [...]

What Now?
January 31st, 2006 · No Comments
Since I’ve already done the-glass-is-half-empty, I thought I’d balance it with something a bit more cheerful.
The leftists are in major melt-down — leftists being the Daily Kos, Democratic Underground, MoveOn and Atrios loons who have been driving the Democratic agenda since before the 2004 elections. From the howling they’re doing now, it looks like one of two [...]
