Romney Quits

March 24th, 2006 · No Comments

Romney officially announced that he is giving up on the Republican Party here in Massachusetts in order to turn his sights to national Republicans.  Eric Fehrnstrom, a Romney spokesman, acknowledged that governor’s sights are no longer at home; he attributes the reason for the lost interest on Romney’s new role as chairman of the Republican [...]

Feingold Leads Democrats in Online Straw Poll

March 20th, 2006 · No Comments

Russ Feingold leads the Democratic field with 48% of the vote in the straw poll at Daily Kos.
Wesley Clark has 15%, Mark Warner has 12%, John Edwards has 6%.  “No Frickin’ Clue” beats all the other candidates for fifth place with 3%, even Hillary Clinton who ties with “Other” at 2%. Tough crowd.

This past weekend I blogged about Mass. Governor Mitt Romney’s strong showing in the Southern Republican Leadership Conference’s straw poll of potential 2008 Republican presidential candidates.
If you’re interested in learning more about Governor Romney, the Washington Times today has a brief write up on who he is, and where he stands on certain issues. [...]

I will work like hell for Russ Feingold for President in 2008, but any other Democrat who failed to stand up when called to duty? They might as well be Republicans.

Stuck In The 30s

March 15th, 2006 · No Comments

I know you’ve been holding your breath waiting to hear the Democrats’ election-year platform — I have, certainly. And while they haven’t officially released it, Pelosi gave the CWA a preview:

In a speech to the Communications Workers of America on Tuesday, Pelosi mentioned Democrats’ opposition to outsourcing. She said Democrats will end tax subsidies for companies that [...]

Feingold Calls for Presidential Censure

March 13th, 2006 · No Comments

Russ Feingold has a great solution to the President’s all too frequent flouting of the law: censure him. Yesterday on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Sen. Feingold announced that he has created a resolution by which the Senate, and I presume the House, can censure President Bush for pretending he had authority which he [...]

Via the Boston Globe:
WASHINGTON — As Senator John F. Kerry prepared to make a return to presidential-style politics with a classic day of New Hampshire campaigning, he said that the 2004 run left him tougher and more eager to fight.

What’s up with McCain?

March 11th, 2006 · No Comments

I don’t quite understand what’s going on here:
Facing a loss at a 2008 straw poll event this weekend, Senator John McCain of Arizona told his supporters to write in President Bush [?] as a sign of support, leaving many sputtering.
“For the next three years, with our country at war, he’s our president and the [...]
