Well the national blogger community is up in arms about Hackett’s exit from politics. MyDD has all sorts of posts lamenting the push from party insiders to get Hackett to step down. Matt Stoller has been saying that this is a loss for bloggers because it shows that while the efforts of bloggers to raise money can funnel tens of thousands to candidates the national leaders still control millions of dollars. Of course the screamers at DailyKos are also quite unhappy. The Globe also reports that MoveOn.org also plans are creating a campaign to rid the Democratic Party of conservative elected officials.
I think this will be an interesting story as it continues to develop. I worry that we are degenerating into an us vs. them scenario at the very moment all sides in the party need to start uniting to focus on winning in 2006. Our opponent is weak, our message is strong, albeit still taking shape.
On a somewhat related note Patrick needs a bigger bounce from us! While there is no goal officially set I am wondering if we can raise $1,000. Right now we are at $100 so everyone do what you can to give the ball a bigger bounce!
